Borchardt Calls for “War” Against Pit Bull Owners.

Borchardt, founder of Daxton’s Friends has declared all out war on Pit Bull owners after the release of the new book written by Bronwen Dickey.

image

At this moment, sitting behind his computer in the great state of Wisconsin, Borchardt is messaging all of his fellow fear mongering minions and stuffing envelopes with his fliers while he seethes with his ever growing rage that the public is finally seeing just how hateful and violent the BSL movement has become thanks to a new article that was written by Josh Shaffer. It’s no secret that Borchardt is partially responsible for creating Pit Bulls & Amputees, an ” anonymous ” facebook page dedicted to the usual BSL reteric and Shaffer explains in the article just how BSL advocates attempt to stay anonymous while indulging in their usual online hate cyber attacks.  The bottom line? Borchardt is very mad, once again.

borchardt

Not only does Borchardt send the materials used in physical stalking done by Craig Brown, he brags about it and in usual Borchardt’s  fanatic behavior, everyone who disagrees with him and the fundamental concept of BSL are all liars and frauds. He doesn’t want to hear a single thing UNLESS you are actively out stalking people who dare to speak up against the flawed BSL concept and his fragile grip on reality is slipping and it becomes glaringly obvious in his latest fanatical rant.

borchardt2

Calling millions of innocent families that chose to have pit bull/bully types and the common mutt for a pet as domestic terrorists is a great example of just how obsessive and all consuming Borchardt has become in the outright attack of the majority of the United States population. Ironically enough, the very thing he outlines in his rant, is the one thing he denies those who he is continuously attacking. Let’s break down his idiot questions and answer them:

  1. Can you find common ground with people that could give a shit about you and your family?

Has Borchardt found common ground with the millions of pit bull owners attempting to keep their family pets safe from the erratic and often dangerous behavior from his BSL movement? Does he give a “shit” about the millions of families living peacefully with their pit bull  type dog? That answer is obvious after you check out the many facebook pages created by Borchardt, many like his facebook page where he posts pictures of children who have pit bulls in the family. How many of those families has he victimized?

2. Can we find common ground with people who refuse to listen to your point of view,   discredit your source, or refuse to read the victim’s stories?

I don’t know, can Borchardt find common ground with the millions of families that are living peacefully with their dogs even after Borchardt attempts to discredit all of the professional affiliations that do not support BSL? Can he find common ground with the families affected negatively by BSL or will he continue to mock families that have to give up their innocent pet because of BSL?

3. Can we find common ground with people who care more about dogs than the innocent children maimed, mauled and killed by these dogs?

While the majority of the population sympathizes for the loss of a child or an injury done to a dog, the majority of the population still realizes just how rare dog bite fatalities are.  Why should families give up their innocent dogs because a tragedy happened? If you are a gun owner, will you be giving up your guns because a child was killed by a gun thousands of miles from you? Studies have shown just how ineffective BSL has been and how other methods such as education is one of the greatest tools in reducing dog attacks.

4. Can we find common ground with people who flat out deny the history and heritage of these dogs?

It’s interesting that Borchardt keeps circling back to the “history” and “heritage” of all pit type dogs. It’s no secret what the original purpose of the original breed was for and while there are obviously still dog fighters attempting to recreate the lineage perfect for the gruesome and illegal act of dog fighting, it’s a safe bet to say that the majority of “pit type dogs” sitting in homes are glorified mutts. Could they have “pit bull” in them? Of course, but then again, they could also have lab, poodle, great dane and about 400 other breeds mixed with them. Those that have  American Pit Bull Terriers are not blind to the history of their chosen breed and many of those that have rescued dogs from a fighting operation know all too well about why their dogs were created and yet it’s those individuals, like the owners of the Vick dogs that have done the greatest service to their community by showing just how amazing these dogs can be when taken out of the abusive environment.

borchardt3.PNG

Yet Borchardt still wonders why people just won’t toss their own beliefs out the window and support him and his failing cause. Not only does Borchardt search for conflict, he obviously enjoys the ability to stalk and confront people that he knows will not see eye to eye with him, either that or he is short that many brain cells where he honestly thought going to obvious rescuers that worked on finding homes for pit bulls would really sit down and listen to a man whose main goal is to kill all of their adoptable dogs that were pit bull type dogs?

At the end of the day Borchardt loves the conflict and trauma he inflicts. While he will never publically announce that he was the driving force and one of the admins of the Pit Bull and Amputee pages ( that ironically changed their name to “Pit Bull Public Safety Education”), it’s no secret in the inner circle of his fear mongering morons that he is one of the few running that offensive hate page. He’s more than welcome to dispute it, which he will, but he will not offer up any evidence to back his claim, which for Borchardt, that’s just the norm.

Borchardt calls for war and as usual, it’s just one more thing he will fail at.

He Will Give You One Chance to Say Exactly What He Want’s You to Say…

what-do-you-want-me-to-say

Borchardt is just so kind to us “willfully ignorant pit bull activists”. Just how is he so kind to us? Well, he takes time from his usually non-busy day to write a blog post about how he will give you a chance to make ONE comment on his one of hundreds of facebook pages and not get banned. What’s the catch ( because, we know there is always a catch…) ? You just have to say exactly what he wants you to say.

Seems rather simple, right? WRONG!  First, you have to listen to the barrage of names that you have to agree to be called. Nope, it doesn’t matter just how inaccurate they are, you just have to roll with the names. What are the names? Let me list a few:

You have to agree that YOU are:

  • Willfully ignorant
  • Brain washed
  • Ill- informed
  • Uneducated
  • White trash
  • Hood rat
  • Criminal
  • Uneducated
  • Poor
  • Welfare recipient
  • Prostitute
  • Drug Dealer
  • Murderer
  • Child-hater
  • Cee U Next Thursday
  • Piece of Sh@t

GIFSoup

If you agree to the names, then you can move on to the next step. Borchardt being Borchardt kindly jotted down the things that you CAN NOT say, that list doesn’t seem tooo bad…..

  • “Any dog is capable” ( Duh… because NO other dog can bite or kill…..right?)
  • “All dogs bite” ( Nope, only one type of dog can bite, like ever.)
  • “Sorry for you Loss, but or Sorry for you loss, However…” ( Don’t even try to point out the common sense factors in a news article….)
  • “You’re Ignorant” ( Because BSL Advocates ARE NEVER ignorant…)
  • “Educate Yourself” ( Dogsbite.org and Merritt Clifton are the only education they need.)
  • “Back in the 70’s,n 80’s….” ( Because those days and those breeds just don’t matter.)
  • “According to the NCRC, AVMA, UKC, AKC, etc….”( No use for those stinkin’ experts at all…)
  • “My pit bull is sweet and would never hurt a fly.” ( Like Millions of them…)
  • “All dogs show warning signs.” ( Even though they do, it doesn’t matter, right?)
  • “It’s the owners.” ( Even though it is most of the time…)
  • “Pit bulls pass the ATTS test.” ( Even though they do…)
  • “Petey was a pit bull, or Sgt. Stubby.” (Even though they were…)
  • “Pit mixes are not pit bulls.” (Most normal people call mixes “mutts”.. but who cares?).
  • “BSL doesn’t work because it doesn’t stop all dog ‘bites.” (Even though that statement has been proven correct..)

Now the important part: The things that Borchardt will ALLOW you to say:

“Wow, I didn’t know that.”

“I had no idea it was so bad.”

“I will take extra precaution with my fighting breed from now on, especially around children.”

“I will look into a break stick and how to use it.”

“I’m so sorry for your loss.” (no BUT’S)

We have created these pages in an attempt to spare other families and friends of the pain and suffering we have had to endure by giving you HONEST information. Not DISHONEST information from the countless organizations and TV shows whom are OWNED, CONTROLLED, or FUNDED by dog breeders, owners, veterinarians or animal welfare groups that have a vested interest in keeping the status of pit bulls unregulated, but HONEST information from people that have nothing to gain from this position. – Jeff Borchardt

(Just a small sample of those honest and educational groups Borchardt offers to the public…)

Who is ready to test out Borchardt’s  offer? I will be honest, I will have to pass…. I have way to much fun proving their bullshit wrong.

Non-Profit Founder & Friends Call for Support in Legalizing Dog Fighting.

Yesterday, I wrote a post showing BSL advocates supporting the idea of legalizing dog fighting and today, BSL advocates have upped their support in legalizing dog fighting by telling their fellow BSL advocates to call in for SUPPORT of legalizing this horrible crime.

dogfighting4.PNG

The Pit Bull Problem, a group administrated and created by Jeff Borchardt, the founder of the non-profit group Daxton’s Friends and friends continue to solidify their public stance of supporting “putting the pit’s back into the pits”.

dogfighting6

Is it possible that the founder of Daxton’s Friends are funneling the small amount of donations into supporting legalizing dog fighting? It’s possible, especially considering how secretive Borchardt is about were his alleged donations are being allocated.  What’s even more interesting, one of Borchardt’s close friend and fellow admin of the group Pit Bull problem is the lawyer J Thomas Beasley. Beasley, residing in New Orleans, a city dealing with it’s own dog fighting problems, has currently accepted a postion with Jefferson Parish Indigent Defender Program and will no doubt be defending those arrested for dog fighting and acts of animal cruelty.  BSL advocates defending animal abusers and dog fighters? It’s no secret just how involved they are at promoting animal abuse towards certain breeds of dogs and now they are supporting legalizing it.

Rising Numbers

Nationwide, statistics show from Jan-Sep, an estimated 26,000 people have been killed in car crashes. Dog bite fatalities in 2015 nationwide? 34. From 2005-2015, in an 11 year period NATIONWIDE, 360 American have died due to a dog bite injury, compare that total for an 11 year time span to the state of Arizona for 2015, which sadly reports that 890 people have died in car crashes. Yet,BSL advocates want to tell you that dog attack fatalities are a rising epidemic and even though dog attack fatalities don’t even make it into the CDC’s leading causes of Death top 10 (Xu, Murphy, Kochanek & Bastain, 2016), they continue to attempt to stir fear and paranoia with skewed statistics and falsified data.

The Bitter Sweet Pill of Truth

Eventually, the truth comes out and the recent article done by Patrick Cain from Global News shares the truth about what every BSL advocate does NOT want the public to see. In 2005, Ontario passes a law to ban and remove all pit bulls and dogs that looked like them from their province.

According the former Attorney General Michael Bryant, this would lower pit bull attacks and cause less attacks by dangerous dogs, and while it makes sense that now that the “pit bull” dog bite statistics have dropped, mainly because there are only about 338 registered pit bull types currently in Toronto, 1,073 less from 2005. Yet it doesn’t explain why dog bites and attacks have kept rising if the real danger was originally  from “pit bulls”.

  (Shaw Media, 2016)

As controversial (and obviously misguided, considering the numbers show that dog attacks didn’t go down after the ban.) as the pit bull ban was and is, Bryant spoke to the Toronto Life in 2011, stating that he doesn’t’ regret banning pit bulls in 2005, but regrets the fall out, even pointing out how much it hurt his former love life with a dog lover he was dating, “she doesn’t know if she can get past it.”

It never is or will be about preventing Dog attacks/bites.

According to BSL advocates, BSL isn’t about preventing dog attacks/bites by all breeds, just by a handful.

bites3

Which partially explains why BSL/Bans have been a complete failure in preventing dog attacks and bites. BSL advocates claim “BSL works perfectly if enforced correctly” yet, BSL/Bans haven’t prevented one single dog bite fatality. I  recently asked a BSL Advocate, how effective was BSL in preventing the dog attack fatality of Carmen Reigada in Miami and her response was “Those breeds should have been included in the ban tooo!” and I couldn’t help but wonder now “lab mixes” & Rhodesian Ridgebacks should be banned too, since according to the reports, “The dogs were identified as an American Bulldog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Labrador Mix”

Fighting for the Right to live

Right now, the Canadian province that has a pit bull ban is planning on euthanizing 21 dogs rescued from a dog fighting operation  (The very province that BSL advocates will tell you just how effective the pit bull ban is. ) without giving those 21 victims a chance at a life beyond the fighting ring. What BSL advocates can not do, no matter how hard they try, is to hide the truth on just how successful dogs rescued from well publicized fighting operations like the Vicktory dogs have been. Will Ontario give those dogs a chance to be just dogs? Will Ontario give those dogs a chance to prove their false stereotypical labels wrong? Or will Ontario turn a blind eye and bury these dogs with out even batting an eye? We will find out soon enough…

The Good, The Bad and the Down Right Ugly of Social Media

I was recently asked an interesting question:

What affect the internet and social media have had on the debate over pit bulls.

…. And to be honest, it’s a complex question that can’t be answered with a simple yes or no. Let’s rewind time before the wonderful world wide web became available to the average Joe.

Our source of news was the TV, the newspaper and magazine publications which didn’t offer up the opportunity to instantly debate, correct, comment or share as we do now. Articles could and would repeat misinformation always with the slanted and obviously hyped heading ready with the purpose of selling. One view, one sided and usually unchallenged.

In the old days…

Brian C. Anderson’s article written for City Journal in 1999 is a great example of just that. Headline screaming, “Scared of Pit Bulls? You Better Be!”, filled with the usual cry for a breed ban and paragraphs of just how horrible the dogs and their owners are.
image

Who could forget the July 1987 cover on Sports Illustrated? The Pit Bull Friend and Killer” in bold letters, followed by the opening statement: America has a four legged problem called the American Pit bull terrier…”

Fast forward 20 years and it’s a whole new world. Of course, some of the media still runs the same misinformation, articles slanted with the purpose to garner clicks and subscribers ::::coughcough thetimesherald coughcouch::: that are filled with limited fact checking and nonsense, but unlike 20 years ago, the public can chime in as soon as the articles are published. Owners, veterinarians, trainers and experts can speak up and respond.

Building a Nationwide Community

The internet and social media has done wonders for the pit bull community. It creates places for millions of owners to talk, vent, ask questions, advocate, rescue, change laws, change minds and work cohesively to build a safer community for humans and their pets together.

Social Media has given non-profits like Stubby’s Heroes’ a platform to reach more people not just in their community but nationwide.
image
(Stubby’s Heroes’)

Launching their “This is Your Neighbors Pet”, Stubby Heroes’ slays the misconception and unfair stigma placed on millions of innocent dogs and shattering the unfair stereotype of millions of dog owners.

Thanks to social media, it gives owners a voice in sharing the lives of their pets and families. From pages like Rafa, The Not so Baby Pibble and Juno Z dog to the rescued and rehabilitated Vicks dogs, like the amazing Ray the Vicktory Dog that shared his training and rehabilitation with the world. Social media has also exposed the fear mongering that PETA and other BSL fear mongering groups attempting to call for the destruction of these amazing dogs.
image

(Ray the Vicktory Dog)

Thanks to the internet and social media, communities can pull together to organize anti BSL efforts while helping each other in sharing resources, tips and stories.

The Double Edged Sword

For as good as the internet and social media is for our dogs, it also opens the door for BSL advocate groups like Dogsbite.org, Daxton’s Friends and the Pit bull Propaganda Machine Reveled to spread their own message and create an online community.  It allows those intent on banning these dogs and isolating their owners a view into the lives of the people they have every intention of destroying.  From cyber stalking, threatening and even taking images of children to mock and ridicule on their hate pages,  the internet and social media has become just as valuable to them as it has their opposition.

It’s incredibly easy to point out all of the bad and place it justly on the shoulders of BSL advocates when it comes to damaging the image of the pit bulls and their owners, but it wouldn’t be accurate. As with any debate that stirs such emotion, extremists will always lift their ugly heads and extremists can be found on both sides of this argument. It became painfully obvious during the case of Mickey (the dog) and Kevin ( young boy from Phoenix) just how extremists from the pro pit bull advocacy was doing just as much damage as the BSL advocates.

It’s become obvious that the fight has been moving off the dogs and have become a human issue and the reason is a no brainer. Dogs have no clue about BSL. They have no clue that there are people bent on their destruction, nor do they always get to pick their owners. There are millions and millions of fantastic and amazing owners, yet many times, we hear about the small selective few who are absolute morons that should never have been allowed to take care of any living thing and have caused such a horrific tragedy that the news have plastered the story all over the internet.

Thanks to the internet, you can google anything. Not only can you find positive pit bull videos but you can find the worst videos ever known to man that include pit bulls. Unlike BSL advocates, I refuse to post them. Honestly, I refuse to even google them. There is no denying the brutality that these dogs can commit when placed in the wrong hands and sadly, the wrong hands can sometimes be from the people who had good intentions in the first place.

To Kill a Myth

Repeat after me… There is no such thing as a Nanny Dog. There is no such thing as a Nanny Dog. There is no such thing as a Nanny dog.

There is no such thing as a Nanny Dog.  We do not live in a Disney cartoon where our dogs wander around with a bonnet and have the ability to babysit our children. Are our dogs amazing? Yes. Do they “love” their family members? Of course.  Will they try to protect their family? Absolutely, but will your dog babysit or take care of your child all by themselves? Hell no.

It makes my eye cross when I read “Pit bulls were bread to be Nanny Dogs!” because it logically makes absolutely no sense to me and nor should it make any sense to any pit bull owner. Our dogs are powerful animals. The strength and stamina they have is amazing and yet, they can be gentle, lazy dogs but the key word is: they are just that… dogs. Animals. Carnivores. They don’t process things like humans, nor will they react the same way as humans and it’s obvious by certain videos circulating the internet, there are many humans who are not even capable of reading their dogs body language.

Parents who find this cute and funny….

None of that makes sense to me but if any of those dogs bite those children, the parents will stand around and wonder “But I don’t know what happpppennned!” I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s true: The Nanny dog myth kills and it needs to stop, with us. Our community needs to keep correcting it EVERY DAMN TIME WE HEAR IT. A great advocate said something that I think is essential because it is 100% true :

“The fact that these dogs are good family dogs has been twisted by our own community and is causing our dogs to fail, and for kids to get hurt.”

The greatest thing about the internet and social media when it comes do our dogs and our advocacy is that it gives all of us the chance to speak up and squash the misconceptions and myths that started a long time ago. The internet and social media is our tool and it can help us do amazing things. It can help us find homes for dogs, help our community with services, fund raise, share, laugh, make amazing friends across the nation. It gives us an opportunity to pull together and be the voice for our pets and our families. Just like any tool, it comes with great responsibility because for as good as it can do, it can just as much harm with the simplest of ease… by just pressing enter.

With Great Power comes Great Responsibility

Relax… it’s just Rob Zombie

It seems as if Lori has an issue…

dumb

Sadly, their attack on this photo isn’t really about the dog  but more about the woman holding the leash. I think this is why I can’t stress enough how BSL isn’t just about dogs. I honestly think breed specific legislation is really 30% about the actual dogs and 70% about the humans owning these dogs.  Which is exactly why calling breed specific legislation discrimination  makes perfect sense.  Even if it was just all about the dogs, isn’t the whole point of BSL is to discriminate?

“Recognition and understanding of the difference between one thing and another.”

dumb2

Oh, for Pete’s sake, that isn’t Charles Manson on her shoulder, that’s Rob Zombie. Although, I’m not surprised that Lori has no clue who Rob Zombie is, nor am I not surprised how she judges Rob Zombie based off his appearance.

dumb5SP2645

Zombie, who also fronts his namesake heavy rock band, has been a vegetarian for 30 years and a strong advocate of animal rights. Zombie isn’t actively the face of any charity, but he supports People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETAPETA) and various animal causes. In 2010, he joined other rockers for the First Annual Humanity Thru Music concert and paw-sta dinner, to raise money for Fur & Feather Animal Sanctuary, resulting in Southern California’s first full no-kill animal sanctuary, medical and educational center.

This next comment alone should disgust any woman, BSL advocate or not, but… it doesn’t. Why? Because it’s directed towards a woman with a pit bull/bully mix dog.

dumb4

Seriously, these people are disgusting and John Dorrill, you are a pig. A disgusting pervert. I hope to God that man isn’t around children or has access to women.

Conflicted

One of the biggest responsibilities of being a pet owner is to keep our pets safe, to not put them in situations were they can get hurt, to make sure that they are legally safe in their environment. I think that’s why this story angers and frustrates me just so much.

image

“The couple owns two pit bulls which are illegal in Prince George’s County. The county has had a ban on pit bulls for 18 years, which means Winnie and Emily are prisoners in their own home.”

Not only does this couple knowingly own a breed of dog that is banned but they are also going public with it. It’s not like it was a new ban, or that they just had no idea, for FFS- the ban in Prince George County has been in place for 18 f@cking years. Not 18 minutes, not 18 days, not 18 months but 18 years.

Now that this couple has made it very public that they are hiding their illegal dog what is going to happen if their dog is confiscated? I can tell you what will happen, while they cry and rage via the media, their innocent dog will be sitting in a small kennel, cold, confused and scared while it awaits euthanization. Not because that poor dog did anything wrong but because it’s owners are a bunch of selfish pieces of shit.

Breed bans and /BSL is wrong, but what is even worse is flaunting the fact that you are illegally keeping your dog.

“We choose to take the risk and bring them here, “Julia said.

Why? I don’t get it. Why would you knowingly risk it? Is it easier because it’s not the owners paying the ultimate price? It’s not like it will be the owners that will be euthanized. It’s almost as if they feel that their family pet is expendable.

” “We have to say don’t move here . Move to Montgomery, move to Crofton, move to the District. You don’t want to live in Prince George’s because they will take your dog,” said Sandra Harmorsky with the Maryland Dog Federation.

This couple is slapping everyone who is fighting to keep their dogs safe in the face. It’s a slap in the face to people who hustle and bustle to save these dogs from death from these cities with bans. Will this media whoring couple expect rescues to drop what they are doing to rush and save their dog from the needle because they publicly waved their illegal dog in the face of authorities?

Their dog deserves far better than those two as owners and as an a advocacy we need to tell them that. What they are doing isn’t heart warming, it isn’t cute, it isn’t going to save anything or change minds. If anything, their very public action damages what millions of people are trying to change. Their selfish destructive actions feed the “pit bull owners irresponsible” and “pit bull owners are criminals” propaganda and don’t think for one minute that the hateful fear mongering morons over in BSL happy land are not frothing over this story, because they joyfully are.

image

( Image taken from PRO BSL page created by Mia Johnson of BC Columbia and Lori Welbourne of Kelowana, BC Columbia)

If their dog is confiscated and euthanized because of this, I seriously hope they are thrown in jail. They knowingly set their dog up for failure. They knowingly and willfully set that dog up to die if they some how don’t stay anonymous and in this day and age, keeping anonymous is not a easy thing to do.
