Double Edged Sword

It’s heartbreaking when I read about yet another dog being shot, but what angers me is knowing that at the end of the day, it was the owners fault that their dog was shot. Look, it’s no secret there are people that hate (and that’s a mild word)  any dog that might be a pit bull and it’s no secret that many of those people that hate the pit bull type dogs are also armed with guns and will have no issue finding a reason to shoot your dog running loose on their property.

I’m not going to deny it- the “man” (pathetic excuse of one that is…) is a total asshole for doing that and in no way justifiable, but this is one of those moments that we need to start smacking the hard truth into irresponsible owners. IF you knew that YOUR neighbor hated/feared YOUR dog, wouldn’t you make damn sure that your beloved family pet wouldn’t step one single paw on their property?

When is enough enough? As much as I despise BSL advocates, I’ve found that irresponsible owners are responsible for more pit bull deaths than any of those idiots over at Dogsbite.org and that group has plenty of blood on their hands too. The reality is- we, the owners are our dogs first line of defense. It’s up to us to prevent the preventable which is what this owner failed to do. Just like the excuses that slide off the tongues of BSL advocates, I see the same disgusting trend in irresponsible owner, just shifting the blame from one person to another as long as they don’t have to shoulder their part of the blame.

I hate the idea of anyone shooting a dog, especially if it happened in front of her child is disgusting but like BSL advocates, irresponsible dog owners never tell the whole story:

Who knows what really happened but what matters is: BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR DOG. Would you let your child go over and play at a house where you knew a pedophile lived? OF COURSE NOT. Why? Because you are not going to put your child in a situation where they can get hurt- so why not do the same for your dog?

One more thing- the woman who posted this also plastered the man’s name and address allll over facebook- classless, dangerous and uncalled for. Her mission isn’t for justice, its about revenge and the owner of Rebel is just as guilty if not more as the man who pulled the trigger. Now, if any nut job actually follows through with their threats….

IF anyone hurts that family because she posted their home address, where their children, grandchildren play then I hope she gets thrown in jail and rots.

On a personal note- I know how that feels, to have your home address posted and exposed to a bunch of quacks, Founder of Daxton’s Friends Jeff Borchardt and his buddies have tried that tactic with me in attempts to bully me into shutting up. Why? Because they are scared- which is understandable, the truth can be scary but it doesn’t change the truth. I will never support the behavior of the woman for putting that family in danger. A good friend told me once “people, on both sides, use their feelings to justify their bad behavior.” and that’s exactly what she’s doing.

Either way, the whole event is a tragedy…. a preventable tragedy, which is often the worst kind.

 What if indeed?  Well, like every other BSL Advocate, the truth is how the perceive it- which makes sense why they believe in what they believe since they are being fed a bunch of bullshit.

Now, Mr. Merritt Clifton- the official statistical expert among his crowd has released his latest numbers:

  

Whew! Those numbers look pretty scary- but are those numbers real? Yes, 608 people have died due to dog bite fatalities. Yes, 2,942 people have been attacked by dogs but those numbers are not for one year, or two years- not even ten years….

  
 If Merritt Clifton was being honest to the public, he would include all of the numbers needed to present the truth to the public.

  
Starting from 1982 to the present the population average is 306.7 million people. I wonder why he left that very important number out? I mean, it’s important to understand the time span of these horrible attacks, if you didn’t know what the average population is, how can you compare these percentages to the actual population?

Dear Backyard Breeders

  

Do you see this dog? You have destroyed this dog. This dog is incapable of doing anything- it can barely hold itself up much less walk. 

It’s disgusting how proud you are of your backyard breeding project. It’s disgusting and it should be criminal. I have no issue with responsible & ethical breeders, it’s those breeders that work to better their breeds of choice but these back yard breeders…  

 

These backyard breeders are a infection, a virus in the dog community. You heard me, if you are a backyard breeder-  you are a cancer and you need to be cut out.

  

I get it- these dogs are your cash cows, they pay your rent, buy you fancy crap and a claim to fame. Everything you have is because you have your dogs pump out litter after litter of inbred mutations that will never have a chance at life because you’ll just inbred those puppies too.

  75 freaking dogs with no purpose but to bring in money. Thousands of dollars for what? Dogs that have been overbred, inbred, barely able to walk, breath, stand…. thousands of dollars for a dog that may live 3 years?

  Seriously, if you can look at this dog and think it’s a fine representation of ANY breed- you need to go slice your finger and jump into shark infested waters.

  If you think this dog is healthy and living up to any sort of life for a dog – please, please, please do the world a favor and go play in traffic.

The Little Red Dog

I honestly meant for this post to be about other things. Filled with anger, vengeance, sarcasm, mocking- the usual, completely justified and aimed at yet another BSL advocate but as I was reading, I had remembered something. No matter how hard BSL advocates bitch, whine and cry- these dogs that they hate so much prove them wrong every day and no one should know that better than Liz Marsden.

Liz Marsden, a former dog trainer, former employer at Washington Animal Rescue League, current active and proud card carrying BSL supporter knows first-hand, whether she wants to admit it to her new fan club or not- just how full of shit they are.

 “In fact, pit bull breeds come from 100 percent fighting dog stock. They’re genetically fitted to attack with no triggers and to keep attacking until their victims are dead.” – Liz Marsden

Life states differently. Contrary to DBO belief, “creating” a fighting dog is incredibly difficult.

“Even Louis Colby, a renowned breeder and reformed dogfighter, has said that if you mated two champion dogs and harvested a litter of twelve pups, there might be one champion in the group.” – Lost Dogs

If anything Michael Vicks dogs proved that. Michael Vicks proved that no matter how much money you had, breeding dogs to be successful fighters is by chance. Even with the genetics and the man made hell environment- these dogs obliterate the genetic argument. They prove that both nature and nurture go hand in hand.

“I worked for the Washington Animal Rescue League in 2007 when eleven of the Michael Vick pit bulls were kept there for several months, pending permanent resolution. So I have much more experience with this topic than the average person”- Liz Marsden

Even though Liz enjoys embellishing her actual role (lying her ass off…) with her interaction with 11 amazing pit bulls rescued from the Vicks property, which is pretty standard for the majority of BSL supporters, but what they forget is the truth shall set them free…from their lies.

“Liz was contracted along with another trainer to evaluate and suggest enrichment for them during their stay with us, We have placed dogs transferred here from the ASPCA after fighting dog busts so you can see that her opinion(s) is not that of the League ”- Washington Anima; Rescue League

In reality, Liz Marsden had absolutely nothing to do with what would happen to these beyond thinking of ways to entertain these dogs while being held in secret from October to January. She did not train or handle these dogs in ay professional rehabilitating capacity- if she had, she would know just how human oriented these dogs were to the point of amazing the staff at WARL. Evaluations of these 11 and the rest of the dogs were done by Dr. Z, Donna Reynolds Co-Founder, Executive Director of BADRAP and Tim Racer CFO, Co-Founder of BADRAP, three certified animal behaviorists from their group. A 8 person team that did not include Liz Marsden whatsoever. Either way, out of all of these dogs, including the 11 held a WARL which were some of the most difficult cases, only one was euthanized for aggression.

“That last dog was the overbred female who had been so aggressive that the team had not even been able to evaluate. Less than two weeks later, on October 1, a court order approved the measure and a black female pit bull, known only as #2621, which had been forcibly bred to the point that she’d turned violent, was given a lethal injection of sodium pentobarbital. Within minutes, her suffering was ended. ”- Lost Dogs page 397

47 dogs are living happily and are loved in their individual homes. Some homes for a select few may be at Best Friends, but home is where they are loved, protected and cherished which those at Best Friends do very well. Contrary to Liz and her exaggerated credentials, these dogs may have been bred to be fighters but their genetics refused to let them be that and many dogs on the Vicks property paid the ultimate price for failing epically.

A little red dog, one of many whose genetics refused to let her be the monster Liz Marsden and her fellow hate mongers wanted her to be and because of that- that little red dog was beat, drowned and while still alive was swung by her feet by a millionaire football player against a tree over and over until she finally died, then thrown in a pit like trash.

47 dogs and millions of others show the world that genetics is a very small slice in a very large pie and Liz Marsden can continue to support animal abusers like Richard Prince but every day she has to live with the fact that 47 dogs are living proof of just how wrong she is.

That little red dog is proof of just how wrong Liz Marsden is.
